From 1st October 2008, it is a legal requirement that the owner of a commercial building in excess of 50 square metres provides an Energy Performance Certificate when their property is sold or let. Residential properties, regardless of age, also require an Energy Performance Certificate at the start of the marketing for sale or rent process.
